The Return
Official Selection, Different Games Conference
Typical twentysomething Juliet navigates life-after-layoff as she returns to her hometown of Los Angeles and picks up the pieces of her life in 2D narrative iPad adventure The Return.
Set in an abstract watercolour impression of downtown Los Angeles, The Return focuses on spatial exploration interspersed with interactive memories triggered by the environment, and culminates in an urban bike parkour minigame. Choices alter the overarching narrative but not individual events from Juliet's life, so players form disparate contexts through which to view Juliet's backstory, present and future.
